What to see near Lexie Suites, between Esquilino and Termini Station

A strategic location

Lexie Suites is located on Via dei Mille, just 350 metres from Termini Station, Rome's main railway and transport hub. It's a practical area for anyone arriving by train or plane who wants to drop off their luggage without too much travelling, but also for those who want to reach the city's most popular sights on foot or by metro.

Getting here from the airport

From Fiumicino (FCO) the easiest way is the Leonardo Express train, which runs directly to Termini Station in about 32 minutes, with no intermediate stops. From there, the guesthouse is a 5-6 minute walk away.

From Ciampino (CIA) the most practical options are a shuttle bus or a taxi to Termini, or a private transfer booked in advance. On request we can book a private NCC shuttle service to/from the airport for you, from €55 one way.

Just around the corner

• Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore — one of Rome's four papal basilicas, about a 10-minute walk away.
• National Roman Museum - Palazzo Massimo — one of the most important collections of ancient Roman art, right next to Termini.
• Piazza della Repubblica — with the Fountain of the Naiads and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, a few minutes' walk away.
• Villa Borghese — one of Rome's largest and best-loved parks, with tree-lined paths, a small lake and stunning views over the city.

Getting around the city

Termini Station is where Rome's two metro lines (A and B) meet, along with numerous bus routes and regional and high-speed trains. From the guesthouse, the Repubblica and Castro Pretorio metro stations are also within walking distance — useful alternatives during busier times.

Metro line A takes you to Piazza di Spagna and the San Giovanni area in just a few minutes; line B takes you to the Colosseum and the Pyramid.

Everything within walking distance

One of the less obvious perks of this location is that nearly all the main monuments of the historic centre fall within a radius of about 2 km — an easy, pleasant walk for anyone who enjoys exploring the city on foot, one step at a time:

• Trevi Fountain — about 1.5 km, 18-20 minutes on foot.
• Piazza di Spagna — about 1.8 km, 20-22 minutes on foot.
• Pantheon — about 2 km, 22-25 minutes on foot.
• Colosseum and Imperial Forums — about 2 km, 25 minutes on foot (or 10 minutes by metro, line B).
• Piazza Navona — about 2.3 km, 25-28 minutes on foot.
• Piazza Venezia and the Altare della Patria — about 1.8 km, 20 minutes on foot.

Those who'd rather save their legs can always rely on the metro or buses, but it's worth knowing that, time permitting, much of Rome is best discovered simply by walking from here.

A typical day in the historic centre

Guests staying with us usually ask the same question: how far is the historic centre? The answer is: much closer than it looks on the map. From Termini Station, on metro line B, the Colosseum is about 10 minutes away. From there, the Roman Forum, the Imperial Forums and Piazza Venezia are all an easy walk, continuing on towards the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and the Trevi Fountain in a single afternoon itinerary.

An authentic neighbourhood, not just a touristy one

Esquilino is one of Rome's most multicultural neighbourhoods, with a long tradition of international cuisines alongside classic Roman trattorias. It's a great starting point for anyone who wants to discover a less postcard-perfect side of Rome, without giving up the convenience of having everything — trains, metro, shops — close at hand.
